Right Place...Right Time... Amazing Lighting
I actually had to pull over to the side of the road for this shot. The sky was overcast except for a thin opening in the western sky shortly before sunset. This is what I saw and why I pulled over. So glad I had my camera with me ! Thank you for looking and for your nice comments !
YES!!!!
This is called "Gap-Light". Sometimes it occurs when in the western sky has clouds that part and let the sun brightly show through. Other times it is the horizon and clouds parting to form a gap that the sun comes through. I can occur at dawn as well.
Either case... When you see it, get the shot. I do not care just what is being photographed - just as long as I get THAT shot.
Your photo is a very good example of this "happening". Lucky You to have the foresight to STOP and get this fine shot.

Yes, that is nice and it is an interesting sort of light. Can create fantastic images.
I had one that got away. A few years ago I could see my
"Moon Rise Over..." so to speak forming. It was near sunset and the above sort of lighting condition was forming on the White Mountains of California near the airport near Bishop, CA. I could see the light and dark areas moving towards the mountains but it was not right yet. Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me. By the time I went and got it my scene was gone.
I tried a similar shot the next evening, but the shot was not to be again.

Wow! I was scrolling thru today’s pics till this one made me pull over too. Great capture...thanks for sharing
That is stunning! It’s one of those photos that I wish I’d taken--hope this one goes on your wall. What a find!
Beautiful! As soon as I saw it 'Moonrise Over Hernandez' sprang into mind. I Googled AA's 'Moonrise.. ' to compare and think yours is much better !!!
It is a very good shot. You saw the light and you captured the mood of the scene to perfection.
Very nice indeed.
Nice Image. Stop, Shoot, Smile.

Great shot! Good relations and great result.

Better than Ansel Adams? Blasphemy!!!
Kidding, of course. It's a very nice photo and a fortuitous happening for the photographer. Also, kudos to him for being always ready to capture 'The Scene' as presented perhaps only once in a lifetime.
Should be on your wall and on a calendar. I'm glad to know this is called "gap-light." This occurred a couple of times in/on the trees across the street but not effective as this country scene. Love it!
