What would be a good lens for street photography for a Sony A6000?

The kit lens 16-50mm works well for Street Photography. Have fun.

My favorite lens for street photography on the a6000 is the Sigma 30mm F1.4 Contemporary DC DN, awesome little lens. I don't much like zooms.

I use the 16-50 kit lens, Remember street photography is up close and personal!

google great street photographers. street photography is not candid photography taken with long telephotos!

I've decided to pick up the Zeiss 35 for my 6500. Because it is the smallest, high quality lens in Sony's line. I thought about the 20 or 16 just to get the smallest possible so I could carry it in a pocket, but I didn't like the quality and the 35 will work on my FF A7II.

Sony 18-105mm f4 would be a wise choice. More expensive than a kit lens, but also better image quality and construction than a kit lens.

I have this lens for my Sony A6500 and it is a super all-around lens.

For me, it depends upon the style of street photography, and which "streets", (as not every street in every town on the planet is identical). Most of the time I use the SEL35FP18 (52 mm equiv) ~ but, if the shooting is closer or wider; the SEL24F18Z (36mm equiv). Only on rare occasions, the SEL50F18. I'm quite fond of zoom lenses, but not for the street (no time to fuss with zoom settings). My zooms are for travel and touring.

An all around zoom like the 18-105mm is perfect for street photography. No wasting time changing lenses, or wasting time getting in closer ,or moving back to get wider to include key elements before the subjects and moments are gone. Four decades of being a professional photojournalist that often has to run and gun on the street, has proven the value of an all around zoom lens. That is why they are so popular and a part of most pros' gear. Every staff photojournalist on my newspapers and magazines was issued such a lens. Often it is the difference between quickly getting or missing the best composition . Yes you can crop in later sometimes without too much loss of quality, but you cant widen your view to include missing items afterwards. Cheers
