For me, it depends upon the style of street photography, and which "streets", (as not every street in every town on the planet is identical). Most of the time I use the SEL35FP18 (52 mm equiv) ~ but, if the shooting is closer or wider; the SEL24F18Z (36mm equiv). Only on rare occasions, the SEL50F18. I'm quite fond of zoom lenses, but not for the street (no time to fuss with zoom settings). My zooms are for travel and touring.
An all around zoom like the 18-105mm is perfect for street photography. No wasting time changing lenses, or wasting time getting in closer ,or moving back to get wider to include key elements before the subjects and moments are gone. Four decades of being a professional photojournalist that often has to run and gun on the street, has proven the value of an all around zoom lens. That is why they are so popular and a part of most pros' gear. Every staff photojournalist on my newspapers and magazines was issued such a lens. Often it is the difference between quickly getting or missing the best composition . Yes you can crop in later sometimes without too much loss of quality, but you cant widen your view to include missing items afterwards. Cheers
