Galaxy S7 calendar sync problem

My wife and I have S7 phones. We share the same AOL address, but have different gmail addresses. We have listed all the addresses on our respective phones, but now our calendar events fail to sync. Suggestions??

Are calendars supposed to sync? I guess we have not tried sharing on our two Note 5 SmartPhones.

Yeah, throw the phones away and buy a calendar.

I would point out Gmail and Android are both owned by Google.
I suggest switching to Google Calendar, which will sync perfectly with Android phones.
