The only problem with most of the 24 to 70.2.8 is that they are heavy either OEM or the other brands I keep mine in the 750 and the 28 to 300 in my 610 my grandaugther and I compete with both of the cameras. She has a much better rye than I do

We have no problem buying used from a reputable dealer or eBay seller. All four of the DSLR bodies we bought have been low shutter count, used. Only one turned out to have a problem - wouldn't read cards, and the seller offered me a refund. I didn't have the heart to ask for it - I could have bought the eBay warranty and it took more than two weeks for the flaw to show up.

We bought our two most expensive lenses new from a local photo dealer, who price matched Amazon - the Sigma 18-300 VR zoom and a Nikon 50 mm f 1.8. Our used finds included the two APS kit lenses, which came with our original D50 body at a pawn shop for $150 tota
Our used purchases, all came from carefully selected dealers. A Sigma 10-20 mm zoom from eBay, a 50 mm Sigma macro. both from eBay dealers I'd previously purchased from, and a Nikon 18-70 mm zoom from a local used equipment dealer at the regional camera show. All are perfect, and have had heavy use.

Flash equipment, I generally buy new, and purchase the extended warranty.

You pays your money and you takes your chances, but if you purchase carefully you can buy twice the amount of gear going used or refurb.

On that, I'm knocking wood and heading for bed....
