Last night seeing was moderately good with a fair amount of twinkle.
I shot using the Newtonian 6" and created a stack in Adobe Lightroom.
I used 32 lights and no darks.
2 minute exposures at ISO 400.
I fiddled in Lightroom and also in Photoshop.
Not great but starting to pull more details.

I hope to get off my butt tonight and go hang out in the back before Mr. Glare rolls around.

He won’t be up and flooding here until after 1.
He will keep me company on my way to Holloman AFB for an air show tomorrow. Looking forward to this one. Holloman does a great PR show.

Very nice. In my 67 years I've never looked through a telescope...you put it on my bucket list.

Oh My!
Check for a club near you. Most will welcome you for a peek.

Astronomy Clubs in Montana. http://www.go-astronomy.com/astro-clubs-state.php?State=MT

I would have attended a Star Party I was invited to, and probably would have joined our Local Group. But they have a rule: No Dogs. http://lgscv.org/
I have a little buddy who goes everywhere I can take him. And I can take him to National Forest Campgrounds.
I can't abide by somebodies made-up rules on our Public Lands.
No dogs - I ain't goin. And if they don't allow dogs in Heaven, I'm goin where they are allowed.

So nice, Sonny, Thank you. I will check it out. BTW, I was a friend of Jesse Marcel, son of the operations officer at the time of Roswell. I talked to him about it but I never visited his observatory.

Nicely poking its face out of the background! One of my favorite galaxy twins.

You're Welcome.
I think we all have things we'd like to kick ourselves in the butt for that we missed the opportunity when we had it.
The trick now is to not miss any more of them.

A pair of Binoculars can be a start.

I too think you did a great job on the shot Jim. Did you use one of the Canon cameras. I just ordered one of the ATIK Horizon Cameras. I expect delivery in a week or so. Brian has been doing wonderful work with his.

Might be a while.
I shot 2000 shots and was trying something new.
I messed up a few batches but managed to catch some nice passes.
Stay tuned.

By all means follow the other guys advice and seek out an astronomy group. You can play and see so much that way.
I’ll be 62 in August so it’s never to late.
Best of luck and glad I was able to add to your list.

I’ll have to check the EXIF data to be sure but I think it was the Canon 7D Mark II.
Thank you very much and best of luck with you new toy.
Everyone on your side knows who to blame now.
