Blooming Cacti

Out with the dog and noticed our Saguaro cactus has bloomed! In the image you can even make out a pollenator (bee). Would love to catch one of the two species of bats that pollenate these briefly blooming cacti in the night! Cholla in full bloom as well, spring in the desert is beautiful.

I'm tempted to get out the step ladder and reshoot the saguaro from a higher perspective. It is about 18 feet tall! The blooms only last 24 hours.

Not sure if you meant to suggest the second shot was a cholla. It's an ocotillo. The Saguaro is a nice shot.

Yes, a little brain dysfunction there. There are two golf courses at We Ko Pa, the Saguaro and the Cholla...I pair them together subconsciously I guess.
Thanks for the correction!

You're more than welcome. I'm starting to have those "brain dysfunctions" too. I have to be very careful about what I say and write to avoid faux pas moments. Unfortunately, I'm only partially successful. My wife says I'm losing my filters.

Amazing 24 hours later...yesterday's blossoms are gone, four new ones today. May be the same bee though!

I have often used a ladder in Saguaro National Park to get photo's of blooming Saguaros. Kind of a pain in the patootie but worth it.
