Playing with Water

I was recently in Nashville and we spent some time out at the Gaylord Opryland Resort, which is definitely a MUST DO if you are in the Nashville area. Anyway, thought I would try to take some cool water shots since there are tons of waterfalls inside. I didn't have a tripod so it made it tough to handhold the shot and get the results I was seeking, but I guess they are OK. Any feedback on how to take better shots of moving water? I'll try to put the file info under each picture if that helps. These were taken with my Nikon D700 with a Nikon 24-85mm G lens.

Exceptional handholding technique which I bet you have taken as far as you can using VR alone. To improve you’ll have to lug around a tripod...but the good news is it’ll be worth your trouble.

Thanks Snappy! Yes, definitely would have been beneficial to have the tripod and use my remote shutter release, but lugging it around for this trip was not an option. Definitely want to get back down to Nashville, but this time with a tripod because there are so many things there begging to snap some photos.

was there many years before the area flooded. it looks like they have fully recovered. it was christmas time and well decorated when we were there. I have a few nice slides or negatives packed away somewhere. nice job shooting at a great location.

Hi Tim,
Nice set of photos. You are right, Nashville is a awesome place. I was there last year when both the CMA and the Stanley Cup playoffs with the Raptors were going at the same time. Music Row was hopping. Did you see the duck parade while at Oprylahd? lol

I think they're great. Just the right amount of blur for these falls.
