I have had a Tamron 24-70 F/2.8 lens for a couple of years and recently had a problem with the lens. Tamron has excellent customer service, and because the lens issue had happened before, they were nice enough to send me a brand new copy of the lens. Having recently bought a D850, I decided that this is an opportune time to upgrade to the Nikon 24-70. The Tamron is brand new in the box and currently sells for $899 on B&H until April 30. I am willing to accept $799 and will provide free shipping for the lens. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Hi Phil, I have a D750 (wish I had the D810) and I have the Tamron 24-70 but I have the newer G2 series which I read is far better than its earlier sibling. I like the G2 series because it has image stabilization and at my age I really need it. There are 2 flavors of the Nikon 24-70 - one with VR and one with out VR. Are you getting the VR version ? ~FiddleMaker
Actually, the G1 also has image stabilization. It's the Nikon version in which only the new one has it. I tested the Tamron G2 at a local camera store recently but didn't see a big difference in image quality. I wish I had as $1200 for the Tamron is much less expensive than $2400 for the Nikon.
