Rock Band Pics

A few weeks back y’all were very helpful in advising me on what new lens to get. I was looking for a faster lens to take pics of my son’s band among other things. I ultimately bought the Tamron 24-70 f2.8 and I love it. I thought I would share some pics from the first gig I used the new lens. I obviously did some post-processing on these playing around with a variety of things. Hope you like them but all comments and critiques are greatly accepted.

Picture 5 shows really good detail in the flame maple top of his LesPaul Guitar when blown up. Great focus and detail !!

You did great capturing and processing. And you are deciding what are and what are not distracting elements that could be removed or played down and which should be played up.

A great set of your son and his band. I have the Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 G2 and think it is one of the sharpest lenses in my stable. It rarely leaves my Canon 5D MKII. Again, well done!

Performance pics are some of the hardest, IMO, due to action, lighting and equipment. These would be some of the best ive seen and PP is very well done. Could be the lens, could be the picture maker?

Wow, thank you so much to all of you for the nice comments. I’ve been doing these for about 5 years with my son and starting to get the hang of it but will say I love the new lens. It was the perfect addition to my equipment and definitely made a difference. The lighting at this gig was definitely a challenge and had to push my ISO a little higher than I normally like to do.

Great series of photos. Looks like a Paul Reed Smith SE-245 with mother-of-pearl bird inlays and tiger maple flame-top.

I was just noticing that too...One boy has a Standard Gibson Les Paul, the other boy has the SE-245. Cool guitars. Now as far as the photos, these are pretty good. I shoot a lot of live performances and it's a hard subjects. Nice job on these...
