Sun isn't down yet and I wanted to test the sharpness of the 6" Newt.
Canon T2i on the 6" Newtonian.
Static f:/5
ISO 100
1/400 second exposure.
Cleaned up in Canon Photo Professional.

Man! Those are sharp and clear Jim!
I would suggest you laser collimate, then run with it for a while.
Then you could do tiny tweaks if you can't stand to let it be and trust your instruments.
Don't let the Jello Atmosphere make you think it's something wrong on your end. Even the best mirrors will have some distortions.
Glad the TAAS guys could help you out with it.
Now, if you can find Hugh Candoit at the next meeting...

Thanks Sonny.
I redid everything yesterday and played a little while last night in between fluffies.
I did a lot of visual sight adjusting until it looked just like the photos in the manual.
Adding the laser it was off on the small screen by about 1/4"
Tweaked it into the hole and snugged everything down making sure it stayed where it was supposed to be.
Looked at it visual and it looks off but the laser says its good.
I ran a few more moon shots last night but missed the 50% by 3% so I didn't get the X/Y that you can only see at 50%.
Star shots look pretty good and everything I did a go to was centered in the shot and I didn't have to tweak that at all.
I need to process and will post a few things later.

I don't know about Hugh Candoit, But I have met Ima Slouch..

Sounds great Jim!
You'll zero in. Your moon shots look amazing.
And not worries about the Moon, in 27 dayz you can get more chances.

Try and avoid Ima, and you definitely want to stay away from her husband Don B. Lazy.
Those two will keep you in the dark clouded daze.
The things you are learning with the 6" reflector can give you a more critical view on your bigger telescopes, too.

This is a good photo of the Moon in a pre sunset shot.

I think Don B Lazy would be a good Joe.
I’m ready to try some more shots tonight if I can work around the clouds. Supposed to clear soon.

Thank you Craig.
I was pleasantly surprised with my results and hope to tweak it up a bit.
