Spent much time with old English cars. One take-away I remember is that the headlamp switch has 3 positions; Off, Dim & Flicker!

Then there are British motorcycles. I used to own a Norton 750 Commando. I loved that bike, but I never could get it to quit leaking oil. I was given a coffee cup with with a picture of a Norton on it. It had a hole drilled in the bottom, and an inscription that said "Of course it leaks. It's a Norton".

I remember the Lucas lighting systems. The switch was labeled: DIM and DIMMER

But you never have to worry about a British motorcycle rusting. They are self-lubricating.

I have always said that the Japanese ruined the weekends of millions of British motorcyclists and car drives by making non-leaking, non-breaking down vehicles. The owners no longer had anything to do during the weekend!

You are so right. In 1969 Honda produced the Pre-K1 750. The motorcycle world changed forever at that moment.

AMEN! I had both on my old 1953 MG-TD. You had to be. Shade-tree mechanic just to keep it running. 😄. That said, I loved that car and dearly wish I still had it.
