On a recent trip through the Lake Apopka Wildlife drive I tried a bit of everything - landscape, architecture, wildlife and a Florida mock-pano! Hope you enjoy this hodgepodge of photos!

i love the shot of the immature little blue heron...never seen one before.
i enjoyed all the shots, carol! you had a fun and exciting outing!

Thank you, Merry. If I've ever seen an immature little blue before, I wasn't aware of what it was. Someone else posted a picture of this one on the drive's Facebook page the same day I shot this. They were asking for and id. Once I knew what it was I found it in my field guide. It was a good day and nice to be out and about again!

Did you see the super large Alligator name Fat Albert? 14 or 15 feet. Usually stays to the left of the area where you can park and go for a walk.

There was a very large gator on the bank just before you cross the bridge at the pump house. Is that the one? It is really big and I have seen it there several times.

Have you ever been to the Orlando Wet Lands in Christmas?

I haven't been to the Wet Lands yet. I live up near Deland so it is an even longer drive than Apopka. We usually go to Merritt Island and sometimes to Apopka but I know I need to go to the Orlando Wet Lands one of these days. I follow them on Facebook and see a lot of nice shots.

Thank you, Sylvia. The Egret wandered around in the hyacinths for quite a while making it a very cooperative subject. Most of the birds are not overly shy on the drive. They are accustomed to having people nearby.

Thank you, Gregory! It was closed for several months after hurricane Irma but reopened better than ever. It is still only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday plus holidays.

Thank you, Earl! I thought the variety would be good since some don't like birds so much!

Wonderful captures, Carol and love the variety, right down to that giant gator.... he looks a lot meaner than the ones in Gatorland!!
