Maybe the liberal idiots here will be able to understand this.

A Good Explanation of why we have the Electoral College.

A 39 second Must Read you may want to pass on.

In their infinite
wisdom, the United States’
Founders created the Electoral College to ensure the STATES were fairly
represented. Why should one or two densely populated areas speak for the whole
of the nation?

The following list
of statistics has been making the rounds on the Internet. It should finally put
an end to the argument as to why the Electoral College makes sense.

Do share this. It needs to be widely
known and understood.

There are 3,141
counties in the United
States.

Trump won 3,084 of them.

Clinton
won 57. (let that sink in)

There are 62
counties in New York
State.

Trump won 46 of
them.

Clinton
won 16.

Clinton won
the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes.

In the 5 counties that
encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan,
Richmond & Queens)

Clinton
received well over 2 million more votes than Trump. (Clinton
won 4 of these counties; Trump only won Richmond)

Therefore these 5 counties
alone, more than accounted for Clinton
winning the popular vote of the entire country.

These 5 counties comprise
319 square miles.

The United States
is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles.

When you have a
country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would
be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of those who inhabit a mere 319
square miles should dictate the outcome of a national election.

Large, densely populated Democrat
cities (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc.) DO NOT and SHOULD NOT speak for
the rest of our country!

And...it's been
verified and documented that those aforementioned 319 square miles are where
the majority of our nation’s problems foment.

Of course. It's why I posted it. The lefties need something to bitch about. Or maybe they'll just STFU. Nah, that'll never happen.

What he is saying is that 3 cities should not dictate what happens to the whole county.

Cities shouldn't be deciding anything. People should. Obviously we disagree.

This has you penalizing people for living in big cities if you think like that. A vote is a vote wherever you live and I believe the Electoral College has outlived it usefulness. in 1790 it had a purpose in 2018 it doesn't.

Too bad, so sad, it is the law.

I felt that way when I was a Democrat and George W stole the election from Gore, but now as a Republican I have come to understand the wisdom of the Electoral College. Hilliary flew over man of the flyover states, Donald concentrated on those states and was successful.

Sorry Ken, I just noticed you are from Portland OR, that explains a lot. We left Portland in 2004 and never looked back.

I didn't say it wasn't the law, I said that it has outlived it usefulness for what its orginal intention was meant for. In 1790 it served a purpose to give fair and equal representation to those smaller states and to make sure everyone was casting their votes for President at the same time. No one was left out of the process this way. In 2018 we don't need that way of electing our President as the voting public knows the outcome almost immediately before the polls even close. Remember when Carter conceded the election to Reagan, it was early out here in Oregon and I had not voted yet. I still went and voted for Carter even though I knew he had lost. I knew that my vote still counted, but in reality I knew I was really voting for a delegate to the Electoral College and not the President. I would prefer to vote directly for the President and not indirectly as we do today.
