Mid April is usually when the baby owls climb out of their underground nests to see the outside world in Cape Coral. They are rather skittish, so I usually make sure I remain in my car and am on the "owl side" of my car and place my Canon EF100~400mm lens on my window bean bag. The camera I used with these photos was a Canon 7DII. For the most part, I was at least 20' away from them, if not a bit farther.

The next four weeks will be a great time to be in the Cape Coral area, as more babies will be coming out. The bad news is the grass will be growing higher around their nests, making it much more difficult to photograph them as the next four weeks comes and goes. So, the next two weeks, perhaps three weeks, will probably be the best time to come down to Cape Coral to photograph them.
