To put the lie to degradation from filters, this was taken not only with a filter, but through a fairly dirty double paned window! Fuji X-T2 18-135mm lens.

Really nice photo Cat. I don't know if you read my comment on another thread about this camera/lens combo but there are multiple threads of complaints on the internet about the X-T2 and X-T20 with that lens in particular having focus problems at the wider angles. It seems to be random so you could think it was not the camera/lens fault. In tests people took several photos at wide with those and some of the photos (mounted on tripods with everything else the same) came out a bit unfocused. Have you seen this with your gear?

No. Love this lens. Focus is spot on and the color is luscious. Bokeh, as you can see is also quite beautiful. The goldfinch was taken aperture priority - I think at 5.6 but could be 7 and I think at 1/500. ISO was on auto. Autofocus. I wonder if the tripod using complainers left the OIS on at inappropriate shutter speeds.
When you are shooting through a window you have to have the light from the side otherwise the photo is degraded by reflection and flare. When the light is right is it quite surprising how good the IQ can be. But then, photography is all about light!
