Louisiana photo locations

I will be traveling through Louisana later this month and am interested in shooting landscapes, particularly the swamps. I lived in Lafayette, LA back in the 80's and have some familiarity with the area but have forgotten the locations where I used to photograph. Also, any recommendations on swap tour operators?

Do you want to photograph cypress swamps or marshes, also? There are so many of each that it will take some narrowing down. What part of the state will you be visiting?

Mostly interested in the cypress swamps. I used to paddle my kayak from boat launching ramps off I-10 between Lafayette and Baton Rouge.

I would explore the possibilities around Henderson Just back East from Lafayette in the Atchafalaya Basin. Exit South from I-10 on 347 then turn left on 352 . It will end at Henderson Levee road. Go right and enjoy exploring the area. There are a few guide services in the area and some excellent places to over eat.
Check it out on Google or Bing maps to get a feel for the area..

Thanks for the info. I looked at Google Earth and Henderson and Butte La Rose jogged memories of where I used to go.

Try going south of Lafayette to say New Iberia and Bayou Teche. Also in that area is Avery Island where Tabasco sauce is produced. Along Airline Highway (Hwy 61) from Sorrento to LaPlace are a lot of swamps on both sides of the road. Take any side road and see what happens. In the fall there is a lot of opportunity during cane cutting around Napoleonville. Pierre Part is another interesting area; very friendly people. Go in any bar and strike up a conversation. Try driving Highway 90 from Lafayette to New Orleans. Anywhere along the Mermentau River over towards Jennings. Lots of opportunity in South Louisiana. Just start driving. BTW my wife and I are both from NOLA and lived in LA until we retired.

I recommend Lake Martin in St. Martin Parish......Breaux Bridge - Henderson - Atchafalaya Basin. Take all the back roads and you'll find some interesting things to capture.

McGees Swamp Tours will take you into the basin from Henderson levee. You can walk around or take Cajun Swamp Tours at Lake Martin. Jungle Gardens down at Avery Island has some great photo ops and the Tabasco factory tour, as well. Don't forget Festival Internationale is the last weekend of the month. How long a stay? I just happen to work for the Lafayette CVB.
PM me and I'll be happy to help you make some connections.

For now.... https://www.lafayettetravel.com/things-to-do/outdoor-adventure/

or you might enjoy a photo tour with photographer Kerry Griechen https://www.lafayettetravel.com/media/whats-new/ or https://www.cajuncountryswamptours.com/ with Butch Gucherau
I think the rate is $20 for 2 hours.

Come on down!
