I use an 18-200 lens on my 7d and I know that Nikon makes an 18-200 as well. Does any one know if there is an appreciable difference between them.

I have never used the CANON but IMHO the NIKKOR is awesome ... but a bit slow at 200 at 5.6.

I had a Nikon 18-200 many years ago. When I expanded my lens collection I found the 18-200 to be a bit soft in the focus department. Otherwise it was a very useful general purpose lens. It did have a tendency to creep to the longer focal lengths when it was hanging downward. Never had a Canon body or lens so I can't compare them. I think that a Canon can mount a Nikon lens with an adapter, but I don't know if that will work with any lens or if there are only certain lenses that will do that.

Looks to me the gentleman of the OP is asking about the difference between two 18-200 lenses. He has never said he wanted to buy another lens.
I have no experience with the Tamron 18-400 but I can tell you I am happy with my 18-200 made by Nikon.
