D-5 "Fast & Furious"

As a professional sports photographer that shoots in less than perfect condition conditions (High School venues), The Nikon D-5 has changed my schedule completely, allowing me to cover more events. Post processing has been cut in half due to the low light focusing ability, high ISO performance and 20+mp format of this camera. My D3s was good to about 8000 ISO with hit and miss focus and some heavy PP. The D5 has performed better at 16,000 to 20,000 ISO with less Post work and produced results that are satisfactory for CBS/MaxPreps.
Just looking to see if any members have used this amazing camera and what kind of improvements or advantages it has given to their work. The attachments were all shot under the lights at 16,000 or 20,000 ISO, cropped to required size for MaxPreps (3000px x 2216px) and run thru "Neat Image" noise reduction program.

Looks like the D5 performs as claimed. Glad it works for you in multiple ways. A tad jealous here.

That’s for sure. As a hobbyist I just can’t justify it. I have been reading up on it, in particular the AF capability. Wildlife abounds where we live, deer, elk & what not. A D5 would be the cat’s meow. Perhaps a D500 is in my future as the AF systems are identical.

A bit more but worth it is the 850. the 40+ mp is great advantage for wildlife/landscape

I have not read up on the 850 so don’t yet know if it has the same AF as the other two. But I was pleased to read the D5/500 are identical AF systems. Guess I should read up on the 850. Oh, & I noticed the shop near my home has the 850 in stock. Uh oh. Scarry.

IMHO it is the best Nikon for non-sports. Very well suited for event, wildlife or landscape. in the $3,000 range though.

The 850 is very hard to find right now. It's sold out at Adorama, B&H and Amazon. Once I get over the sticker shock of the D5 I'm looking at the 850 for non-sports stuff.
