I am interested in the Sony RX10M4 but would like to rent it first before paying the high price. I have never rented a camera before and was wondering if anyone can provide reputable companies and any things to be aware of for a first time renter. Thanks for any input.

I've used both Borrow Lenses and LensPro to Go. Great experiences with both, outstanding service. They'll ship to you in VERY secure packaging that you simply relable and return to them when you're done. I think insurance is included, but ask, as I can't remember.

Have you checked shops local to you? Check Adorama and B&H Photo and I'm sure there are many others. Check their prices, then check other online prices and compare.

I've repeatedly used LensRentals and the equipment and processing of every rental has been perfect. You might try the websites and email lists for all the candidate companies to see if they have a discount as a new customer or will email you periodic discount codes for rentals.

Ditto. Used them twice.

About a year ago I rented the model 3 and at the end of the week I bought one. It was not an easy decision and that was the right way to do it. Based on my experience I encourage you to do it. I have the model 4 now but didn't need to rent it. I did rent the a6500 last November and now I own one of those, too. I think the money is well spent when you've narrowed your decision down enough with "research". I also rented some stuff that I didn't buy and it was a surprise to me.

I appreciate all the great input. My wife and I are going to the Holland Michigan tulip festival in May and I wanted to see if I could try out that camera then. Thanks again.

I used Borrow Lenses about two years ago and since it was an expensive body, I had to either have them added to my insurance as the insured for that body or they would put a $6000 hold on my credit card. That is not a negative, just something for which you need to be prepared if they ask.

I've used Borrow Lenses several times for both body and lens rentals and have been very satisfied.

looked at all three of the rental companies mentioned.
LensProyo Go did not carry the Sony RX10M4 that I was looking for. At least, I didn't see unless I missed it.

Borrow Lenses did have the camera but it had a reserved date on it until April 2. I don't need it until May so they may be a possibility. That would suggest they only have the one camera.

Lens Rentals also had the camera and it appeared to be ready to rent now. Lens Rentals and Borrow Lenses had the same price or virtually, for a week, $104 vs $105.
Question for anyone. On these rentals, does the battery and memory come with it as part of the rental?

I have used Borrow Lenses, and found them easy to work with and very professional.

I answered my own question by reading further of what comes with the camera. Looks like battery and charger are included. Supply your own memory card which makes sense.
