Sloss Furnaces, National Historic Landmark

Sloss operated from aproximately 1882 until 1971 and produced pig iron. The site includes two blast furnaces and associated coke ovens which produced coke from coal. The coal gas produced in this process was burned to produce electricity and compressed air to be used in the blast process. The west blast furnace is the B&W photo.

How true, like rocks and kids and horses and stuff, on camera settings of only P & A, with no tripod; can you imagine!

I just seen this for the first time on a show called Aerial America. Can't remember wich state it was, watched about 6-8 of them.

Its in Birmingham, AL. It has been turned into a museum/event site.
