I want to learn how to photograph the Milky Way. I have a Canon Rebel. I know fstops and film
speeds because I'm an old guy. Can you start me off with one or two settings to get me going
and I'll try to experiment from there.
Thank you
Dr Dark
There are plenty of people here who practice Astro-Photography (myself included) and THEY are very good. The AP forum is just such a place. If you want to see what can be done on You Tube then look for Nick Page Photography. He is a landscape photographer by trade but has done some wonderful night sky work as well. He prefers Canon equipment and he also has the heart of a teacher. You can learn a LOT from watching him.
Not the only one out there but ........
Welcome
Welcome to UHH Dr. Dark, glad you joined us. I see that you have received a lot of useful information already.
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum.

Dr. Dark, There are a number of things like a sturdy tripod, a remote shutter, and a knowledge of the sky to get you started. Don,t be discouraged with your first 100 or so images. Practice makes a perfect image. Patience is also a good virtue and good pair of long underwear helps too. With a T6, your kit lens will do for now, but like me, I graduated to a really wide lens for the Milky Way: the Rokinon 14 mm f2.8. Great lens. Watch Youtube under the title of astrophotography and you will learn a lot about AP. Clear skies to all, RFB
