when I started I bought an alpha a200 with a kit lens an 18-70 it has Sony printed on the side with the lens cover saying Minolta.
I have just bought the alpha a57 with as far as i know a kit lens,
this one has a Sony on the side and 18-55 SAM.
My question is are they in fact both kit lens and what is the difference???
thankyou.
Nobody able to help me then.
when asking for help please put all info down
i reviewed a 70 -200 @ f4.8 max and 70-200 @ f2.8 straight through they are miles apart and double the money
Sorry about that but i didnt realise, I hope this is what you mean the sam says 3.5/5.6 and the other says exactly the same.It was the fact that one said SAM and the other didnt.
They sound like they are short zoom lenses. They need some reasonable light, they aren't bad lenses. I have a super zoom 17-200mm with the same F-stop as yours! Brilliant lens if you have good light the mm number is the focus point from your sensor
Thank you Marty for taking the trouble to help me.

I bought a new camera Friday 13th and havent had a chance to get out thanks to our wonderful weather and it looks the same for the forseeable future so ive been practising indoors but it is not the same feeling
Those are both Kit lenses, and they are pretty good. I use the 18-55 and it takes very good pics. I have no exp with the 18-70 but probably about the same quality of the 18-55
I have both lenses as well. They are both kit lens from
Sony. Good results from both.
