I was going thru my Dropbox files when I came across the 2013 Adventure we took to see the Polar Bears in Churchill Canada on the Hudson Bay. During October and in the first few days of November the sea ice stars to form in the Hudson Bay. The guides explain that Churchill is situated on that particular place in the bay that the current forms a gyree and the ice begins to form there first. So the bears all hang out there waiting to go hunting as they have not eaten since July of that year when the sea ice broke up and melted.
We stayed out on the Tundra Lodge. Costs extra, but you get to see bears thru your window at nite when you go to bed. Otherwise you stay in town and it’s a 90 minute drive out to the Tundra. I highly recommend this trip, no matter which company you use, because you will see fantastic sights and your camera will be very happy!
The last two photos are of the Tundra lodge and Tundra Buggy that takes you out for observations. This is so your feet never touch the Tundra out there as it could be quite deadly.

#looks like I exceeded the limit. Last two did not load up.

We went while we both were still working and could afford it. Hard part was scheduling it. There are only so many weeks that the bears come thru and it is up to Mother Nature as to when it will get cold enough. And I always had to turn in my Vaca sheet by Jan 1 every year. We decided on 3rd week in October and got lucky. 10days after we left, the bears were off onto the ice and only a few stragglers came thru. The week before we got there they had only seen 2 polar bears. This photo was the view out my wife’s window at night. For some reason she slept with the curtain open.
