Follow-up on seeking replacement camera

I dropped my a6000 Sony camera while on vacation and the kit lens will not move out when turning the camera on and the body will not recognize the lens. I am back home now and I attached a Canon to Sony converter to the camera and attached several Canon lenses to the Sony and took pictures and all the lenses worked only by mauual focus, nothing new. I can conclude that the problem is with the lens, not the body. All the other functions on the body seem to work, etc, menu items. I priced renting a e mount lens from Lensgiant for a week, rental plus shipping= $50, seems kind of steep. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. folks might have on the matter, thanks in advance. Bob

Take your camera to a retail store someplace where you can attach a Sony OEM lens and confirm that autofocus, etc works. If it does, the kit lens is toast. Time to upgrade.

Get a Canon T7I. You'll be set for life. I got the best deal anywhere on Greentoe.com!

Oh geez, get over it already! You're not going to get ANYBODY to downgrade their camera because YOU think they should.

I am guessing you have the 16-50mm lens. Its fragile and seldom survives a drop. Always good to test another lens directly but you likely will need to buy a replacement.

$50 for a week is a very fair rental price based on sone local rental prices I have seen.

Is is the excuse for getting that new and better lens than the kit lens. Carpe diem.

I see not one word in his post that suggests he is looking for another camera, so your statement is totally irrelvant.

I just read the first line.....something about dropping his camera. I thought Greentoe.com was the place he should look into.

Read the title. He no longer has a working lens. Good time to change systems.
