I went to a cemetary in Jacksonville Fl yesterday and shot a few pictures. The first is from a very old section that most people don't know about... all grown over and hidden. Someone has not been forgotten. The caretaker told me the flowers have been changed every month for years but no one has seen it done. The flags were put there when the original marker crumbled and a new marker is being put in.
The second was too nice to pass up. It was done for a couples only child with their wedding date & both their names also. The front is as beautiful as the back but I won't post for their privacy.
Mount Olive cemetery in Baton Rouge, LA, was started around 1850 as cemetery for free blacks (blacks could not be buried in the "whites only" cemetery nearby). The water table in Baton Rouge is high and coffins and vaults need to be lead lined in order to stay below the top of the soil. Blacks could not afford such a luxury.
Grave and memorial in rural Scotland and a memorial to fallen comrades, at the top of Edinburgh Castle.
