Gotta love airshows, especially the Blue Angles. I was fortunate that the Blue Angels staged their aircraft less than a mile from where I live and on a number of occasions they flew right over the house. Neighbors thought I was nuts constantly running outside with my camera.

I LOVE taking 'plane pics'! I have some neat pics form Oshkosh last year. One of my favorites (although I should probably re-work it) it a formation fly-by of a B-1, a B-2, and a B-52. I used PSE's content aware move tool to rearrange one of them so i could crop closer. I will probably go to one or two major local airshows this year. Not retired so I can't travel far.

Do love the Blue Angels. Always make the homecoming show in November. Have seen them at Mirimar, probably one of the best overall shows EVER. Also seen them in San Francisco, New Orleans and headed to Tuscaloosa, AL on April 14/15 to see them there..... John

You must be retired.
Only 75, not ready to retire yet. Work as a project manger in a refinery near New Orleans. Just love planes and photography. Have given that love to all 5 of my kids and most of my 11 grandkids, the 2 great-grandkids are too young to decide just yet! Try to hit any airshow within reasonable driving range. Also have lived many places, including a bunch in California. Got to spend a whole week at Edwards AFB for the landing of STS 11. Made seven other landings there and three different air shows with the TBirds.
Have had three occasions to fly backseat with the AeroShell team members, including some air to air where I took picture of a P-40 and two P-51s in formation with us. Same day rode with the Golden Knights on opening an air show in Mississippi.
Count myself as one of the luckiest people alive! Always have time to chat with someone that loves planes.... John

Maybe this summer or next I'll splurge on a ride in a B-17, B-25, whatever at Oshkosh or a more local airshow. I try to go to AirVenture every 2-3 yrs or so and have several pics on my FB page. I work part time as a monitor for a special needs school bus so I have the summers off, but not much money to do anything. Last summer my riders from Melbourne, Australia (picked them up at O'Hare to go to KOSH) treated me to a ride in the Bell 47 (M*A*S*H chopper) and many years ago, probably my first visit, I went up in the Tri-motor. I doubt if I have any pics form it, though. I've had two winning internet pics (AvWeb, EAA) and have received for my effort, one baseball cap and one autographed pic. I haven't flown in years but my brother owns a 182. Taking pics is cheaper, too. Several years ago while visiting my parents in FL we, on the spur of the moment, decided to get up at about 2 AM to drive to the cape for a dawn launch of one of the space shuttles...an unforgettable experience!

Fortunately I live in Melbourne just south of the cape I watched many from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and all of them from the coast about 20 miles south

Envy you and Jayd for seeing the shuttle launches live! Was in California in the early days and was out at Edwards for the landing of STS 1. Story too long to tell, but was on base for STS 3, 5, 9 and 11 (on the runway apron for the European Space Lab landing). Heady days and got to meet several of the new astronauts. Also got to fly a simulator for the F-22 prior even to a prototype being flyable. Spent about 20 minutes in the simulator and about an hour recovering! Had an invitation from Morton Thiokol to attend a launch, but had to provide my own transportation. Too poor at the time to be able to fly cross country. Was in Their west coast facility listening to the commentary online minutes after the Christi McCullah disaster.
Headed to Tuscaloosa, AL to see the Blue Angels April 14/15. Will post a few pics.... John

Was fortunate enough to see the Thunderbirds in 1960 at the Boy Scout Jamboree in Colorado Springs, Colo. They flew F-100 Saber Jets in those early days. The Air Force Academy was across the highway from our site. We were treated to a small airshow followed by Ike in his shinny Cadillac convertible. His motorcade road through the entire place as he waved and hollered to some of the guys who had hollered to him. This all occurred after 3:30 in the afternoon as it always showered for 5 minutes between 3:00 and 3:15. Great weather, sunny all day til 2:45 when it clouded up and showered, then cleared by 3:30 and stayed that way til the next afternoon. Life was much more simple in those days...........Great times!
In Canada we're proud of our Snow Birds but I've had the pleasure to witness the Blue Angels and the Snow Birds at the same show. With luck in the future we'll be hosting the Blue Angels again. Here are a couple of pictures of our snow birds.
