I've been looking for a Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro and found a refurbished model on Amazon from the reseller CSNY. I can't find anything here on the hog about them, nor can I find anything elsewhere except Amazon.

Has anyone made any purchases from them and if so, how was the product and how did the purchase go. I'm especially interested in whether refurb products from them are actually refurbed, or just used.

Suggest that before committing to a deal, look at refurb on Canon website.

Been there and they are $100 higher. Plus they are out of stock. The price difference makes me suspicious.

If this “refurbished” Canon lens is not the currently popular “L” model, that might explain the price difference. In any case, you may be wise to consider the fact that that you are unable to identify this “CSNY” reseller (Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young?) a red flag. 99 times out of a hundred, deals that sound too good to be true are exactly that. I appreciate how the extra cost may put a strain on your finances, but buying gear from one of the big well-known dealers is -so- much safer and easier on your piece of mind. Genuine refurbs are often available from B&H, Adorama and Cameta. Good luck. /Ralph

That $100 would be a hundered or more saved ,rather than going to any place other than the refurbishsures, that are not recommended by the camera maker , or have a ticket to that effect.

Yes, it's a little more strain, but honestly, I'm a tightwad. But $100 is $100. I too couldn't find anything other than Crosb, Stills, Nash and Young. The more I think about it, the more $100 is good insurance that is a good refurb. Im thinking I'll wait until Canon refurbished more.

Remember also, when buying refurb from manufacturer, you get warranty.

I believe that is a good decision.

If the item is listed as "fulfilled by Amazon" you have the added protection of no hassle return if you are not satisfied. That protection is missing if the sale is directly through the seller. Of note, the seller may be new or not a regular equipment vendor who is just selling some used items and doesn't have much history.

Dealing with Amazon is like shooting craps in Reno, RISKY! Do you place your trust in Amazon or trust the unknown re-seller? Several years ago they tried to tell me the "2 day shipping with Prime" wasn't in effect b/c they HAD to use a third party. Took them 8 days to fill that order. Absolute LAST time to use them for anything photographical. TRUST Adorama, B&H, KEH, Cameta, Roberts, or your best friend, but Amazon? Not with MY time, effort, and money.

I would be careful they have 135 feedback's with 8% negative. I still might but with a credit card so you can make a claim if needed.

CSNY, CSN&Y, WTH! OK, Crosby is for photographing triads of Byrds, Stills and Young for shooting Buffalo in Springfield, and Nash is good for a few pics of Holly in both the UK and Calif., all while dating Amazon women!
