It is impossible for me to tell the difference between native bees and honeybees. I suppose someone could, but not me. This was my attempt to get close enough to ID them. Then as I looked at the photos, I got a closeup view of the pollen sacks these guys carry. Wow! Some of them are huge. They were after not only the pollen, but also the nectar in the bottom of the flower. The blooms only last a few days so they must hurry and get as much as possible. And the ants were competing with the bees for both.
What kind of lens did you use for that?

That was a Phoenix 100mm Macro.

What camera/mount. I'm not familiar with Phoenix. Where do you get them? I use an old AI f/4 Micro Nikkor manual focus which is real sharp too.

The Phoenix was one of the lenses I got from obeone here on UHH. Great little lens, even the af worked ok although I preferred manual.
Oh, forgot, the camera is a 7DII
Unbelievable macro work. Just stunning.

Glad you all enjoyed the photos. I am working to improve my art in macro. Fine tuning the lighting and composition skills for an idea I have in the back of my brain.
Meanwhile, subjects like these bees and the competing ants give me great opportunities to improve.
