Adobe Announced a Price Increase Today

(Full disclosure.... I'm an Adobe Community Professional or "ACP" and get my Adobe software at no cost in exchange for some user forum participation)

It is often written on UHH that one of the risks in the Adobe CC plan is that they could gouge you with price increases. The most expensive single user plan went up 6% today.

The good news is that the $10/month Photoshop/Lightroom Classic/Lightroom CC plan is not changing. Single app plans, like for Premiere Pro only went up a buck. If you have the $50/month everything plan it goes up $3.

Since the $10/month plan went into effect there have been a lot of updates, upgrades improvements and new tools. For me, the value is greater than ever. A couple weeks ago I decided to try out the included website creation tool "MyPortfolio" and am impressed. Yesterday I was learning a new feature to make and share small collections with someone.

FWIW, if you buy an annual update at B&H you don't pay sales tax!

From the press release:

Adobe will begin end-customer notifications in March for Creative Cloud price changes in United States, Canada and Mexico with those changes taking effect on Adobe.com and the channel after this notification period. Until then, renewing subscribers can experience the value of the latest features and products. New subscribers can lock in a year subscription at the current price with no additional charge. Our current STE Student/Education, Creative Cloud Photography and Acrobat CC plans will see no pricing adjustment.

Prices will vary by plans, for example:

Creative Cloud for Individual Single App plans will increase to $20.99 per month from $19.99 per month or $1 per month
Creative Cloud for Individual All Apps plans will increase to $52.99 per month from $49.99 per month or $3 per month
Creative Cloud for Teams All App plans will increase to $79.99 per month from $69.99 per month or $10 per month
For an annual plan, the price will not change until the following annual term. Adobe will notify subscribers of the price increase at least 30 days in advance.

UHH is often split between the $10/month Photography Plan being an insane rip off or the greatest bargain since film. To raise prices for the more "professional" packages and not for the Photography Plan is a pleasant surprise.

I read last week that Adobe has succeeded at passing 12 million Creative Cloud subscribers. It was a milestone for them because that is supposed be how many Creative Suite customers they had.

12 million is a big number!

"ADOBE IS NOT ALLOWED TO GET ANY OF MY MONEY EVER AGAIN!!!!!"

They are not getting mine either now.

To learn Premiere Elements and Lightroom I started reading the Adobe sponsored forums, just like here. After awhile I could answer some of the questions. Sometimes it took a little research. It was fun and I always learned something.

It was an odd an pleasant surprise one day when I got the email asking if I would like to be an "ACP" in exchange for a free full boat CC subscription. I asked what I was supposed to do. The answer was to just keep on doing what I was doing for fun.

The list of software I can learn now is long!

We've been hearing that tripe for some time now. I don't get it. A company develops the best of its kind software in the world — one that every developer tries to emulate — and people complain about a company making money. Dig this… Adobe cooperates with other developers in allowing plugins and such. That's no little deal. Just amazing!

All kidding aside - I use Adobe software on a daily basis. Lightroom and Photoshop has provided more benefit to me and my bottom line than any other software product with the exception of Quickbooks, MS Word and MS Excel - even when I paid a lot of money back in 1998 to get PS 4 (not CS 4) and the numerous upgrades later. I am completely tickled that I can get these two amazing software titles for only $10/month. This is the best deal in the business, bar none. You are the lucky one that you can use their software for free!

I also use Capture One, which I believe creates better, faster conversions, and does better tethering, but it is not a "complete" solution for me. I also use DXO and On1, both of which can do things Lr cannot do, and Ps requires considerably more effort to do - but I consider them workalongs, not replacements to PS and LR. All kidding aside, that is . . .

The quarterly report came out yesterday. It is 1.79 billion for the QUARTER, just for subscriptions. More from other products. Growth over a year is 24%.

“Adobe’s outstanding growth is driven by enabling our customers to be more creative, work smarter and transform their businesses through our relentless focus on delivering innovation and intelligence across our solutions,” said Shantanu Narayen, president and CEO, Adobe."

I just got off of a live chat with Adobe.

If you have the $9.99 per month CC package, your monthly rate will NOT be going up.

It's only the All inclusive packages that are going up.

when I looked at the website it looked like the photography plan is going from $10 per month to $20 per month. I suspect this might be for new subscribers and the existing users are grand fathered at the $10/mo rate (this is the package that includes LR Classic CC, LR CC (mobile), and PS.. Do I have this straight???

thanks..

Lloyd

Price rise was in April 2018. This thread is rather out dated.
