It looks like this owls eyes are injured , I'm no owl expert, but it has barely moved for a couple of hours. it is hanging out by our pond. Ive seen these owls before and they usually fly off when getting near them (usually before i even notice them). this one is uncharacteristic
you should call a rescue person to come and look at it
Sick or injured. Maybe ate a poisoned mouse? Poor thing. Perhaps your local wildlife facility can help. Have someone help you to try to catch it. I suggest both of you go out with a blanket, and one try to toss a blanket over it while the other blocks escape with their blanket. Might not work. Be gentle, but don't be afraid.
That owl does look poorly. Is there a wildlife expert or rehab facility near you? Someone you can contact to look at the owl? There's a guy here in Silver City, Dennis Miller.
i will call around tomorrow and see if i can find someone to help

Not sure how to initiate a PM & am using phone. Look up Gila Wildlife Rescue. Good luck.
found Mr Millers Ph number and he called me back this morning , plan was to capture the owl and get it to silver city so they could treat it, but I found the owl dead this morning
I do wildlife rehabilitation. Once they are down they are typically emaciated, dehydrated and often beyond saving due to some form of toxin...often lead.
Always sad to lose one though.

Darn it, I'm sorry. Sorry also that I didn't see your post earlier. Thanks for trying to help the owl.
Very good picture, it definitely looks like it has no eyes.
