So, she says, "I'll ignore the sign that says, stay back, and saunter down here, wearing my flip flops and park my butt on that tiny, slippery rock, fifteen feet above the rushing river and start texting my friends."
It reminds me of the sign, right in the middle of the crest of Vernal Falls in Yosemite NP, that says, "stay back, if you go over the falls, you will die." There have been many who thought to prove the sign false, only to take a plunge and not live to tell about it.
If you have any of your own examples of stupidity, please post them here so we can all have a good chuckle.

I was in Yosemite the day that three people went over the rail at Vernal Falls. It was a long time before they recovered their bodies due to the water flow. There was a fourth killed that day. He ran off the road on a curve and died in the crash. The deadliest day in park history. The ranger told us that they seldom put up barriers in the park but when they do, they mean something. It's just not worth it.

Natural selection can be harsh. So the next generation could be smarter and may not include any of their progeny. Those Bison are FAST when they want to be.

I don't have an image but this is my favorite after 30+ years as a professional firefighter. Guy has a little business syphoning gas into 5 gal cans & selling it. He doesn't have caps for all the cans but has 6 full ones in the trunk of his car. Smells gas in the passenger compartment so stops to see if he has a leak. It's about 0200 hrs but he has no flashlight. So he opens the trunk & flicks his Bic to have a look see. Funny thing was he stopped in front of the police station. The cops come pouring out thinking they've been bombed. They sort of had. Blew the dude about 30ft &, miraculously, he lived to go to jail after a stint in the burn unit. We gave him our highest form of recognition, a "Darwin Award", as we call it. It was a truly magnificent night.

On second thought.... Something I've never personally observed, but there's a sort of a saying around here, 'it takes three hikers to get bitten by a rattlesnake. The first hiker wakes the snake up. Perhaps my truthful tale rubbed some the wrong way. That happens. So be it. When one spends a lifetime picking up the pieces from some folks stupidity, gallows humor becomes natural. It’s how it is or you don’t survive.
