I was lucky enough to photograph and capture video of a Great Horned Owl family using my D850 and the Sigma 500mm F4. Here's a link to the video, enjoy! https://youtu.be/7mfFvuDMYSM

I look forward to someday, upgrading to that lens from my 150-600 sport. That is an amazing lens. Coupled with the D850, wow!
Excellent exposure. very nice video.

Once again, the D850 proves how amazing the resolution is.

Thanks. I liked the Sigma 500 F4 but started having odd focus issues with it where it would just stop focusing. I won't be keeping it.

This is a wonderful segment on the owls. Mark, do you find any advantage of shooting with the Sigma 500mm versus the Nikon 500mm other than cost (does one produce better IQ than the other)?

Thanks so much for the kind words. I think both 500mm f4 lenses are super sharp but the Sigma copy I had would occasionally stop focusing in the middle of tracking. It did this on both my D850 and the D500 with different auto focus setups. I could never pinpoint why it would do this and found it frustrating so I can't keep the Sigma. I've had similar issues when using Tamron lenses as well. I've never had this issue with Nikon lenses. When the Sigma did lock focus, the images were just incredible but those few times of weird behavior put me off.
