I spent another beautiful day on the Huntington Beach Pier with Brent Harder shooting surfers and spectators. Here's a few of the day's events. It started with a gorgeous morning and just got better from there. Even the local pelicans enjoyed the view.

What is fabulous to me in these shots is the seriousness of these surfers and their families, oblivious to anything except why they are there. I've tried my hand at catching a surfer ride a wave or two from the shoreline. It is not an easy scene to capture with this clarity. Awesome dude. LOL @~@

Hi Izluluz, for many of these surfers its just part of their life. I agree that catching surfers from the beach is hard to do. Fortunately for us, this pier we were on protrudes right out into the water where the waves are great. So we get a front row seat right from the pier. It still takes a 300-400mm reach to capture these images, though. We did have a great time capturing these images.

Hi Doddy, thanks for stopping by and viewing. Glad you enjoyed them. Its always fun to watch these guys having fun. I'm just trying my hand at this type of photography encouraged by another UUH member, Brent Harder, here who does this all the time.

Mike, you nailed these photos! Awesome job! They are all great but one of my very favorites is not a surfing shot, it's the one of the mother and daughter. Beautiful clear, crisp, focused, and great bokesh.

Thanks Brent, that means a lot coming from you. Had a great day with you out on the pier. The shot of the mother and daughter was purely coincidental, but added to the ambiance of the day.

Was out at Ruby's today with my brother and the conditions were lousy, just like our first day. But there are still several surf competitions taking place near the pier. And our pelican was out there wooing the crowds.

Hi Dave,

In the morning before the wind picked up, the water was calm and smooth as glass. As the wind picked up, that smooth water turned a little choppy. Thanks for viewing and your nice comment.
