I have found Canon printers to be very good at printing photos. Contrary to some reviews and opinions I also have found that ink
can be found cheap and compatible. I have tried other brands and was never satisfied. The lower priced ones seem to a good job
and the very expensive Canon printers are only marginally better, and of course have more features. I have been printing photos
for 20 years using Canon for 15 years. I understand that this subject has many and varied opinions and that I am a picture taker
and not a photographer, so maybe the pros have better advice.

I bought a Canon PRO 100 PIXMA that blows every other printer out of the water. Prints up to 13x19 pictures for $400 (with a $250 rebate that means $150). Can't beat that.

Pixma Pro 100. For the price of $149.99 you will not be able to beat it with any other printer in that price range. I have one and love what it can do for me.

It is really "free" because it comes with 50 sheets of big paper and a set of full (not trial) ink cartridges. Together, that's about $150.

If you check the printer forum this is covered probably once a week. That said if you do buy a Canon Pro printer I recommend 3 sources.

1) There is an excellent community on Facebook led by printer expert Jose Rodriguez aka JToolman. You’ll find lots of support for Canon & Epson Printers. 2) Jose Rodriguez has 100’s of YouTube Videos explaining uses, maintenance, & support of what he calls Photo & Fine Art Printers. He especially talks about refilling the cartridges with third party inks from 3) Precision Color Inks. They provide compatible inks and refilling kits that are considered to be The Most compatible. They provide custom ICC profiles for their inks with most papers, especially Red River Paper.

If you haven’t purchased yet consider the Pro-10 which is the Pigment Ink version of Canon’s 13” wide carriage printers. The Pigment Inks last longer than the dye inks of the Pro-100. With sales they can be had for close to the same price as the Pro-100.

Pro 100? No.

Pro 10 uses pigment inks.

No you can’t, different heads and more. The Pro-100 has 8 inks and the Pro-10 uses 10 inks. Pigment & dye are very different.

The basic printers are quite similar but if it were a car it like one is gas the other diesel.
