Good post.Food for thought. I don't have an answer to the problem and wonder if there is a good solution. It appears that warnings to Law Enforcement that could have prevented the loss of our children were handled ineptly, I hope that the failure to act and the results are burned into the minds of law enforcement officers nation wide. This is one tragedy that should not have occurred.

Thank You, for your kind reply.

I fully agree about the law enforcement issues, and am disheartened to hear how all the "signals" were missed or ignored.

Regarding new firearm legislation: I think the NRA and similar groups, along with the opposition, ought to consider some sort of compromise which would satisfy both factions; we cannot tolerate the extremes, i.e. No Guns For Anyone vs: Guns For Everyone (there is a bit exaggeration in my definitions).

There must be - has to be - a common ground somewhere.

It cannot be all or nothing for either side. Both sides must bite the bullet (yeah, it was intended).

I fear if more of these tragedies occur (heaven forbid), congress will take action that will not be acceptable to those who own, use, and sell firearms.

And, yes, the mental health problem and criminal aspect must definitely be part of any significant result.

I agree that steps must be taken to secure the lives of our children and grandchildren. We need to know what is causing some youngsters to take this path of destruction, Cruz is still alive, maybe a few analyst can dig deep into his thoughts and discover why our society produces the mentally disturbed killer.

Makes sense to me but I'm afraid many will think vengeance more satisfying. It rarely is and it may be productive to analyze him, or question him or whatever. We definitely don't need him to ever be free but killing him serves no great purpose.

And, I agree with you too. The death penalty is an age old vengence act. It serves no substantial purpose, it costs lottsa money, and usually provides no useful information.
