Yes, really enjoyed Mad Magazine... and there was also a racing cartoon magazine that I enjoyed. Just can't remember the name of it.
Had saved a lot of them, but they, along with my Playboy collection "disappeared" while I was in 'Nam.
Loved him! I had an issue that had a small (smaller than the 45s) vinyl record called "It's A Gas".
And no, it was not what you are thinking. It was burps, followed by some great instrumentals. I may still have it around somewhere.
Anyone happen to know which issue had the record?

The 1961 issue, when turned upside down looked the same.
http://www.pinterest.com.au/pin/143059725642235873/The Christmas poem would have been late 1960. Twas the night before Christmas and all threu the pad, not a hipster was swinging, not even old Dad....
I had to hide these literary works...you'd think that they were girlie mags. Couldn't watch The Untouchables with Elliot Ness either!
Dave....Our Dad's must've been cut from the same cloth. Mine thought Leave it to Beaver made fun of authority, esp. the Dad. I thought Ward was pretty cool. However, he let me watch it.
Hurrah for Mad Magazine, Alfred E. Newman, and especially Don Martin cartoons!

If you're right, then you would not have been able to watch The Three Stooges either!

Most were fine, but not the Stooges. Too much violence! Could get an ass kicking just for watching!
Self fulfilling prophecy. Of course in the '50's, we spent more time outside.
