Great captures Gary! Snowy Owls have been seen in Salisbury, MA and along the coast of NH in Hampton, NH and Rye, NH. They like rodents and birds. I've seen one last year at Parker River Animal refuge in Plum Island, MA with a Loon.

I posted shots a few weeks ago of a male Snowy. This one is a female. She a little bit larger and has a few more black feathers than the male. The weather has been miserable and I hate the gray skies and poor lighting but the flyby was a thrill! I hope you enjoy. Gary

Awesome photos

Wow Gary! These are wonderful, and no worry about the gray sky or quality of light.

Thank you very much. I went on ebird for Massachusetts and they mentioned Plum Island quite a bit. The one I got shots of must have a pretty good hunting ground because I have seen her there a couple days now. I would love to get a shot of her with a duck!! The Peregrines hate her being there. They go at her pretty viciously when they spot her. Gary

Thank you very much. I totally agree with you. There was a moment that I lowered the camera and said (aloud) "you are so beautiful". Gary

Jealous!! We've had a male around our area, but I've never had my camera with when we've seen him...and now I think he's left us for the winter!

I think in a few weeks there will be a migration back north. There may be a few heading through your area on their way back. I cant believe the luck I'm having with this female. I must've stumbled across her hunting ground because I've seen her several days in a row. There are a lot of sea ducks and while I was walking to the water I saw some rabbit scat. Both are on her menu. The only negative to the area is a very territorial Peregrine Falcon. It's very aggressive, I was waiting for it to take a run at me today! Good luck and post some shots if you see any. Gary
