Nina Simone was a great talent. Her hit song "Trouble In Mind" was one of my late mother's favorite. She had it on an oldie 45rpm record. Mom never had any LP records on her though. She was too wrapped up in Sarah Vaughn at the time. And Frank Sinatra. Thanks for sharing this video of Nina. The Late BB King was from Mississippi. He left there to become famous. Actor Morgan Freeman is from Mississippi, and lives there today. And owns a business. Anderson Cooper of CNN, Robin Roberts of ABC, and Shepperd Smith of Fox News are from Mississippi. And, of course Elvis Presley. After the Civil War, for a while, Mississippi refused to celebrate the 4th Of July. They do now.

I hope you don't mind Mark. Another powerhouse with a powerful song about our not so distant past.

Thanks Mark. She was a really special artist. I was lucky enough to see her perform at Newport a long time ago.

Thanks Frank. I saw her once too. An incredible woman/artist/activist.
