More reddish egrets in Florida

taken at same place in Tampa bay as the spoonbills, herons, cormorants, pelicans, ibises, and other birds in separate posts today. Alafia banks (I incorrectly called it Alafia flats in earlier posts; may John Jay Audubon forgive my soul.)

I believe these photos are of a heron, not an egret!

No it's called a reddish egret, but it's a cousin of the herons.

The Reddish is a different looking bird and these are excellent shots. The colors are soft and the mane is so unruly! I really enjoy watching them when they are feeding!

I'm a first-time viewer of this bird too. Another photographer on our outing to Alafia was partial to it, and once I took the pictures and enlarged them, I could definitely see why.

Nice set. I've not seen this bird either.
