This is a follow-up to my post of roseate spoonbills. They were all taken at the same mangrove island in Tampa bay. Top photo will take you to the album with many more birds from this bird sanctuary.

Correction on location name: Alafia banks, not Alafia flats. Alafia river empties into the bay nearby. The banks are a series of small mangrove islands accessible only by pontoon boat.

These are great blue herons except for the small one which is called a tri-color, as I understand it.

yes, thanks. someone told me the smaller one on right was a tri-color heron? (BTW, I did another post a couple of days ago with some reddish egrets in flight in same area.)

Tri color is blue with white / black on chest and neck..
