Ha! I did the same thing with my pack. I found them cheap on ebay, and bought two, one the same, and one the next size up (the largest) and they last for decades.

I have a lowepro bag that I love. You can take the pack off your shoulders and flip it around to access the camera gear without taking the pack off your back. I used it when we went to Alaska and it was awesome. It also has a rain shield which comes in very handy.

Finding that perfect backpack isnt easy. I use a streetwalker for lighter loads

Uh, Dan... I'm no expert, but I don't think that's what streetwalkers are for.

I used Lowepro. It came with a detachable pack that went on the back and lens pouches that went on the side. Some stuff that had to go in checked luggage could be added onto the backpack before starting off hiking.

Bears are friendly, as long as the have something to eat.

Finding that perfect backpack isnt easy. I use a streetwalker for lighter loads and a mindshift, when I'm hitting the trail. You may want to check them out on B&H. Mindshift has a 26l and 36l.

Also, don't forget the bear spray and make sure you bring someone else with you, that you know you can outrun!

Well I’ve,heard it said that you can tell Brown bear scat from black bear scat because the brown bear scat contains bear spray and a whistle.
