On my way to Florida I stopped to shoot the covered bridge a couple hours south of Atlanta...the Auchumpkee Covered Bridge. While in Florida I shot the Sunshine Skyway Bridge....a quick comparison of old and new.

I prefer the GA bridge. Pix in GA seem to make me think of R.E.M. or The Allman Brothers Band.

The old bridge seems much more friendly and attractive to me, although I recognize that it may not be as safe as the newer one in Florida. Quite a few people would agree with me, and I wonder if our feelings are the result of a perhaps romanticized vision of the past.

Nice shots. The Sunshine Skyway Bridge was rebuilt after a drunk or drugged captain (I don't remember which) ran into the middle section and the middle part collapsed into the bay. Thanks

I love the covered bridge shot. You caught it at a very appealing angle. A “just right” shot!

The Skyway Bridge is a beautiful piece of modern architecture, but the covered bridge has character. I would much rather travel the back road that it's on than the highway that the Skyway Bridge is a part of.
