Cool photo. We travel on smaller ships and when we dock near one of those mammoths, we worry that they will discharge all of their passengers when we are trying to get off. YThinks about it, some of them carry more passengers than an average town in the states.

The Royal Caribbean line is much better than Carnival and if you shop around it's not much more expensive. I've had it with those type trips. To much of your day can be regimented. Get off in so and so port at this time. Be back on the ship at this time. Lunch is at this time and supper at this time. And on and on. No way ever again. I'll set my on itinerary in the future. It's what I liked about my time in Colorado. I'd pack up and spend three days, five days, whatever hiking the Rockies. Wherever I wanted to go. Loved it. Tell the world to kiss your ass and go explore.

Think about the horror stories in recent years of wide spread sickness and on board sewage systems that quit working. No thank you.

It gets reported when related to a ship. When it happens in the community, it isn't reported and most people simply think they ate to much!

My son went to the Dominican Republic a few years ago for his honeymoon and they loved it. I'm not sure what resort but it all inclusive. From what heard in locations like that you don't leave the property for safety reasons. I think Jamaica is an exception. I've also heard Cuba is a great location and has a lot of visitors from Europe and Canada. It's slowly opening up for U.S. travelers but still not an easy trip.

You definitely don't want to go sight seeing... I would love to visit Cuba... Just for the old American made cars there....

Can you imagine the money to made there buying up some of those classics. Jay Leno would be in heaven. Of course the years of a salt water environment has probably rusted out most of them.

your right... Jay Leno and any car enthusiast would be in heaven there... But, I tell you... once the USA gets in there... and they commercialize it all, it will not be the same... We need to visit there before that happens....

I agree. Not that a change in the form of government would be a bad thing for the people. I'd hate to see old Havana bulldozed over and McDonald's, Starbucks, and Walmart stores replace everything. If it got to that point I might as well stay home.

In most countries older buildings are prized not bulldozed. The US is the outlier there. I am not against progress, but we tear down and rebuild and hope that our historic preservation groups do know which buildings to conserve.

Local preservation groups do their best but money talks. City Council members get bribed and rezoning takes place. Before you know it old classic homes are gone and a new high-rise condo building goes up. Ever been to Florida? You watch it happen every day down there. Beach views are ruined and traffic jams become the norm on a six lane that was once a scenic two lane. I've been watching it happen for decades.
