Camera or SD Card?

I have sent email to Sony to asking this question, but while I am waiting for that answer, I thought I could some insight from others at UHH.

The situation is -- Last week I purchased another Sony A7R2 and I already had two Delkin Black 128GB SD cards. Both cards work in the my first A7R2. However, only one of these SD cards works in the A7R2 i bought last week. When I put the other SD card in the second camera I get "No CARD" message.

I suspect this is a camera issue and not the Delkin Black SD card. What is making this happen? Is my conclusion accurate?

Thank you for your considerate responses. (P.S. This is not bashing either Sony or Delkin.)

John

The card is apparently bad, especially because the other card works as you said.

Take the battery and the lens out of the camera you just purchased. Put another lens on it, and reenter the battery, charge. If that doesn't work, do a factory reset. This procedure has worked for some Canon DSLRs. Maybe Sony Mirrorless? If none of these work, you'll have to send it in. Or try a different Brand SD card like San Disk, before doing that. SD cards are rather inexpensive today. Good luck.

Did you try to format the card in the new camera?

The new camera when it says no card it has the format greyed out so it won't let me reformat the card.

Thank you for this suggestion. I did this and still have the "NO CARD" message.

Even though the card works in other cameras, try cleaning the contacts.

Use Disk Utility to erase and clean the card. Rename it and set to Fat 32. Place disk in the camera and reformat. If that doesn’t work trash it.

I have sent email to Sony to asking this question,... (show quote)

If one of the cards works, it sounds like the other one is bad. You can try using it in your original Sony and see if it works all right in that. I would play it safe, though and dump that card - or send it back to Delkin. Something else you could do - format it in your computer and then try to format it in your camera.

Try: 1. Put the good card in a computer and determine how the camera formats cards (e.g. ExFAT, FAT32, etc.)
2. Then, with a computer, try to format the bad card using the same format.
3. Assuming that worked, try to re-format the bad card with the camera.

Check to see if the card is completely unlocked.

Of course the simple solution is to use the card that works in the second one in the second one.
