Wow Rokinon 24mm 1.4 is soft wide open!

I closed it Down to f/4 and bam! Both shot D850 ISO 4000 15 second exposure f/2 for the first and F/4 for the second.

Nice shots. I would have preferred if both were identically held for comparison purposes.

I understand this is by no means scientific but I will say you can easily see the difference in the sharpness of the stars in these images. Also, when I was focusing on a star I couldn’t get a sharp point in the view finder or the display zoomed unless I stepped the aperture down to 3.5.. this surprised me as I thought this lens was sharp wide open. It’s going to be sold as I suspect I have a bad copy.

I have a Nikon 24mm f1.8 that will sharp focus at every stop I have tried and smooth no noise. I love it.
