I have different brands of cameras, DSLRs and mirrorless ones. Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, Sony and now Fuji.
I really like that I can easily make changes for what ever type of shooting I want to do without having to go into menus on the Fujis.
Plus the Fujis have excellent IQ with their X-Tran sensors and can output really great jpeg images or raw files.

I have the Fuji X-T2 and it's a fine camera. I also have the 14, 23, and 35 mm lens and it covers most of what I need. I tried the X-T20 and while its image quality was great, the size was just too small. I also kept my Nikon D7500 for its great image quality and the availability of relatively light weight (Nikon and 3rd party) lenses that just aren't available for Fuji- think Tamron 18-400 mm lens that weighs in around 24 ounces or even the Nikon 70-300 mm AF-P lens that weighs about 14 ounces. You might consider getting a Fuji to supplement what you already have rather than replacing your current system getting the best of both systems.

All,
Very helpful advice. Any thoughts on the Fuji XC 5--230?

No experience - sorry - but there's a lot of good info here which, along with trying it out on your chosen camera in a store, should help you to get a good idea of whether, or not, it's for you........

I have been a lifelong user of Nikon cameras dating back to the Nikon F! My latest camera is the D7100 which has been a fine camera. It takes lovely, sharp, well exposed pictures and is extremely versatile. My wife and I love to travel and I take many of my pictures on these trips. However, carrying the Nikon and two lenses for an entire day is getting to be a burden. I do have a Sony RX100 III and sometimes leave the Nikon in the hotel and carry that. I am thinking of trading in the Nikon for the Fuji XT20 and a couple of lenses (short zoom and telephoto zoom). I was wondering if anyone has views on the Fuji and the change I am thinking of making. If you have experience with the Fuji, I would appreciate your thoughts on the lenses.

I like you have been a lifelong Nikon user. I have moved to Fuji.

My XT1 plus the Fuji 18-135mm lens is my go to combination. I live in Costa Rica and have to be prepared for alost anything just walking to the beach. Also the XT1 reminds me a lot of my long lamented FM2. You can but a terrific, brand new XT1 body from B & H for $599 see https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=fujifilm%20x-t1&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ps.

I don't have big hands but I would not want anything smaller than the XT1/2. Also great advantage both the XT1 and the 18-135 are weather sealed. The B & H deal is fantastic on the XT1 body. I paid $425 for a used XT1 before I know this deal existed. BTW the "plastic fantastic" 16-50mm is a brilliant lens too. Can be picked up for a song used and produces great images. Remember if you move to Fuji you are also able to venture into the M/F world of vintage glass. I use all my Ai glass and a number of Konica lenses on my XT2. Great glass, great in camera focusing aids and fabulous cost/quality ratio....

IMO you won't regret the move.

I have had Nikons since the late 70's, but finally decided to try the Fuji XT-1. Fell in love. All my Nikons are in boxes somewhere in the house except for my old film FM which is on my desk, loaded, and my 5500 which I keep to take explanatory photos of my Fujis. I now use my XT-2 almost exclusively. You will LOVE the XT-20 coming from Nikons. No need for menus, once you have set up your preferences, and full control, at your fingertips, of what you want to do. If you are only going to have two lenses, I would get the 18-55 "kit" lens and the 55-200. You will never look back!

I have the 50-230mm lens and for being one of Fuji's cheaper lenses, the image quality it can get is pretty darn good.
Here are some examples I got using it.
These were shot at 230mm and f 7.1

I also am a Nikon shooter but recently purchased the Fuji XT2 and I am really enjoying using it. A great quality camera that takes excellent pictures. It is smaller and lighter - it just feels right. Plan to hold on to my D750 for now but am using the Fuji 100% of the time for now. Good luck with your choice.

It is almost 100% agreement among Fuji converts, that their Nikons are still there, but neglected. And the part about "just feeling right" is so universal. They are just an "elegant" tool for taking pictures - like no other. They may not be the fastest, or the "best" at a particular feat, but they just do so much, so well, and so easily! Elegant!

I have it. It has no aperture ring, but you can control that with the rear command dial if you want to shoot aperture priority or manual. Otherwise it has the same excellent quality as all the other Fuji lenses. You really can't buy a bad Fuji product.

100% with you. My Nikons are rarely used. I may sell the D7K as I've never really liked it but I'll keep the D300 as it's great for Surfing shots and is a useful arm workout tool. Also living in Costa Rica I have developed a keep it until it does not work anymore mentality. Stuff I took for granted in the UK is not necessarily available here.

Coming from the d7100 to Fuji is something you probably will enjoy. However, you may want to look closely at the XT2 since it is a little bigger and offers some features that are more advanced than the XT-20. The Fuji lenses are really nice and compare very favorably with Nikon lenses and some Fuji primes very fast and are outstanding.

I too have that lens. Excellent image quality, light weight, quick focus, versatile and very reasonably priced.

I too was a Nikon user for many years. But switched to Fuji also because of the weight. But you can also weigh yourself down with lenses for this too, however not as bad.
I had the XE2 until it got salt water damage, that another story. I own the XT10 & XT2 which I love as well as various lenses inclusome Lensbabys. It was a bit of a transition coming from Nikon to Fuji, but I was determined to get the set up right. We recently went to Australia I bought the 100-400 lens to take with. I wasn’t disappointed. I had the Tamron 100-500 before. It was a beast of weight. This was a bit weighted too but nothing like before. Fuji always has great firmware updates so you don’t feel like you need to go buy another Nikon just to keep up. I hated that seemed like there way of selling. I’m seeing some rumours that Sigma is dropping M4/4 lenses & going to make Fuji. That would be great. Fuji has great glass even the kit lenses. Check YouTube there are a few that really get into the camera.
Have fun

Also if you really want to get the weight off your neck get a SpiderPro belt system.
