I think often it has nothing to do with putting lens to camera but more about the, “collection”, that one has proudly amassed!!
The ones with the, “collections”, are the BARK, BARK, BARK guys.
Would be better to post, post, post(that’s bite, bite, bite), would be much more impressive, if indeed they could impress!!! LoL

Ha, ha! Yeah, you're right!

Thanks. Your "rant" was actually my first experience in here...lol. Left me wondering what the heck I was even here for! I am very much a novice but enjoy taking pictures very much and hoping to learn and fine tune my minimal skills. As an experienced photographer, your frustration is understandable but to a beginner it felt like a door slammed in the face. I look forward to the insights you are willing to share. I shoot mostly wildlife and use a few different lenses on my Canon T6i. I also shoot a Canon SX60 HS for my go to quick camera.

Well, for starters, when you post a pic here, make sure that it either blurry, out of focus or has a tilted horizon. This will assure you of getting at least 10 pages of oohs and ahhhs and "great shot". Otherwise, if you take a very good photo and post it, you may only get a few responses. Or... You can make a stupid post like this one and accomplish the same thing.

Yep. I must be an elitist. Or, perhaps I may have read one of those that finally blew my mind. Remember, I said it was a rant. In other words, tongue-in-cheek. Think about it. It is kind of funny that there are so many posts from people asking that exact same thing. In a lot of these posts, the OP usually lists a few lenses that they may have while asking this question. Even kit lenses cost more than just a few dollars. One would think that a person that owns a camera with interchangeable lenses would figure out either from reading or usage, what a particular lens will do and what that lens is capable of. Just common sense. No arrogance involved with that.

And nope, I don't know that much either. Just today, I read through my owners manual and a book dedicated toward my particular model of camera for a particular subject but to no avail. I even Googled the subject. Still no luck. Therefore, I will have to recreate my problem and figure out a solution on my own. Kind of like putting a certain lens on my camera to see what it can, and can not do.

I was simply writing down my thoughts about what I have been reading and injected an opinion. I never said I was right. Again, it was just a rant. I wasn't being negative. Being negative would be for me to answer on a direct thread about which lens to use with a snide remark, which, as you know, goes on here on a daily basis.

Now then, I can understand if some one (such as a beginner) who had just purchased a camera with a few lenses and was asking the "which lens" question, but I have a funny feeling that most of these folks asking have had their equipment for awhile. Perhaps I am wrong. Who knows? Who cares?

What I find real funny is that you jumped all over me for something I wrote in jest. That's tolerance for ya! I also find it humorous that I was put on a guys ignore list when I haven't even posted a response on any of his threads. Now that is funny!

Oh, and why should I shut up because I voice an opinion that goes against yours" That is un-American.

Remember, tolerance.
Yep. I must be an elitist. Or, perhaps I may hav... (show quote)

Tolerance? Really? Was this an intentional demonstration of irony?

Oh, I am not upset. My meaning is simple; people have these wonderful lens that are designed with a purpose (such as the length of a zoom) and one would think that even with just occasional use, they should have a feel for them and thus ,know what to do. What I recently found ironic is that since I made my little rant, the same question is still being asked - only now they have qualifiers.

You know, the best advice I can give you is that when you get to “this” point, is to take a break. While I do have issues with 2 posters, I justify it because they bully people. That should not be tolerated period. But this brings me back to my point, which is that this is a privately owned forum and we are all only guests here, whether one has been here for years or only a few days. You have to tolerate these posts. You have no other choice. Doesn’t matter why the OP is asking about his collections of lenses. You can skip the thread. Or you can be helpful. That is it. You are not forced to read anything on this site. If you would like to have a censored forum, you are welcome to start your own website. You do have options. Imagine, if I came to your house that YOU paid for and I started to criticize the color on your walls. Or your tv etc...

Would you not kick me out before I could reach for my jacket?

I believe you would and rightfully so.

If what goes is ok with the owner of this site, you should accept it.
