Planning a trip to Sedona in April. Looking for tips on "Don't miss photo stops" and time of day for best memory shots. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. Take a Pink Jeep tour--they go places you can’t go by yourself, and they are worth the money. Read up on the area before you go & decide which tour you want. The info about them is online.
2. There are a lot of good shots simply wandering around town., especially if you’re at all interested in street photography.
I’ve been there six or seven times, and the best landscape & red rock shots I ever got were on the PJ tours.

I agree. In particular, among the Pink Jeep tours, the Mogillion Rim tour is probably best for photos. There's an area by the airport that's great for sunset shots. Don't forget the Oak Creak Canyon drive. Coming into Sedona on 89A, there's some great scenery - especially if you take some of the hikes. In Sedona, there's the Chapel of the Holy Cross. Great photos of the architecture in the shops at Tlaquepaque.

I go at least once a year. You will never run out of things to shoot. Never.
Yeah, I got some of those also.
That was 16 years ago.

If you take Pink Jeep tour request Mike Carey for your guide or better yet do what I did. Higher Mike personally. He will rent a good Jeep (or use his) and give you four tours for price of one. Mike knows his stuff and he is very interesting and fun.

Just in case you feel you need to give your shutter-button finger a break, stop in and check out Greg Lawson's photo gallery there. You may either find it inspirational or humbling, depending upon your skill level.
Cathedral Rock in late afternoon is the iconic shot, but morning light from the east is kinda nice too. If you hike it, look out for the mountain bikers. You could get squashed like a bug-on-the-highway.

Skip the Pink Jeep stuff. There are several "extreme" tours offered by other operators that give you so much more for the money. They all laugh at Pinki. It's a rough and dusty ride so leave your expensive camera behind.
The favorite shot in Sedona is Cathedral Rock at sunset...don't miss it. You will see this shot in all of their brochures. It will cost you $10 to get into the Red Bluff state park but get there a couple hours in advance, have someone hold a place, because wedding parties and senior portrait sessions will want to take your spot. I took these shots at 6 PM. Eight of us were centered for this shot when a large wedding party tried to move us out--not a chance.
Best attraction is Antelope Canyon north of Flagstaff in Page, Arizona. This is where you get the good stuff. And then on to Monument Valley. After a few days Sedona is boring.

I lived in Flagstaff for 25 years and went to Sedona at least 200 times and never found it boring. Page and Antelope Canyon are 160 miles from Sedona on a 2 lane highway which has heavy truck traffic. There are so many things to see within 30 miles of Sedona that a month is more realistic to see most of them. If you like ancient Indian ruins there are 2 west of Sedona toward Cottonwood and Walnut Canyon NP east of Flagstaff. Jerome is an old mining "ghost" town. Google and other posts here will be informative but bottom line you probably won't find Sedona boring.
Been to all of them. Living in Flagstaff I understand your vantage point.
As Jaymatt said, take a Jeep tour, but do your research. I got the wrong one and all that was involved was fast driving over bumpy roads.

Go to tripadvisor.com and type in Sedona or Photography in Sedona. There are too many places to list here. Check out tripadvisor.com. it is an excellent source, I use it all the time.
I believe the Chamber of Commerce also has a web site.

Be sure to get a picture of the only McDonalds arches on the planet that are NOT Gold. When McDonalds applied for a business permit in Sedona, the city said NO!!! McaDees paid a bunch to get into Sedona.
It's very likely the only really unique feature in Sedona, as McDonalds never allowed another non Golden Arch restaurant. The building is a sort of pink Stucco with Turquoise Arches. I've been to Sedona a bunch of times, but regret not having a picture of the towns McDonalds Arches.
https://www.aol.com/article/finance/2017/03/29/mcdonalds-sedona-turquoise-arches-arizona/22017422/Surprisingly there is no mention that our great leader, King Donald, has ever visited the Turquoise Arches of McDonalds in Sedona!!!
