Iwo Jima was the toughest battle in the Pacific theater. Your dad is a hero. The “greatest generation” will be remembered for stepping up and fighting for their country. In my life I’ve read books and have seen many documentaries on WW 2. The conditions they lived under were brutal.

Great shot. This is certainly one of the most recognizable symbols of the war. I remember the original photo and the three cent stamp which I collected as a kid. Your father is a true hero; his service is truly appreciated!

I'm not trying to detract from your shot which is good but the original memorial in Wash. D.C. is awe inspiring also. In this shot all I did was place the eagle head there. Everything else is a straight shot including the monument and Capitol in the bkg. Don't miss this location near Wash D.C. Maybe you can place a picture of your dad in the sky area of your shot.
