Right...... And, if you believe that, I have a case of Kodachrome I'll sell you for the cost of a bottle of 18 year old single malt Scotch - and I'll pay for the shipping. The film is in my storage unit somewhere. It's gotten a bit warm, but should be good (for something).

At this stage, too much money has already been invested by the company in Ektachrome production; unless the factory is tragically destroyed by an earthquake or in a flood, Ektachrome will almost certainly make it to market at some point. Sorry, no scotch for your dusty case of Kodachrome.

I quit using Ektachrome (and Kodachrome) when Fujichrome was introduced, so am not too excited. And unless Kodak eventually makes 120 Ektachrome, I have little interest in it. Wouldn’t mind seeing Agfachrome CT-50 make a comeback, though.

I used a few rolls of Fujichrome, but it was fourth in my preferences to Kodachrome{1st}, Ektachrome{2nd}, and Agfachrome{3rd}. These days I'm mostly digital - my local camera store develops color negative film every day and b&w negative film once a week - I'm not very interested in finding someone to develop slide film.

I liked Ektachrome--Kodachrome was too vibrant, Fujichrome too pastel, and Agfachrome orangey.

What it ain't good for is Developing. The last Kodachrome capable lab closed in Kansas in 2017

I used to only shoot Kodachrome because back in the late 70's the Ektachrome was too blue for my taste. When Kodak discontinued Kodachrome I shot a roll of Ektachrome 100 and really liked it. The color was quite natural. I hope the new Ektachrome is like that if not even better.

The last Kodachrome lab was Dwayne's of Parsons Kansas and i believe they're still open. Just not processing Kodachrome. They stopped that in 2010. Not 2017.

Kodachrome was a beautiful media, but the developing process was elaborate to say the least. I’ve done E6 and C41, but never been involved in K14. Reportedly, someone has worked out an abbreviated process to develop Kodachrome in color, although not up to the original standards, but not sure how credible it is: https://shootfilmco.com/blogs/shoot-film-co/kodachrome-processed-in-color-seriously

Why but the Kodak camera? You can't shoot with something like a good used Beaulieu 5008s?

I totally agree. Before Super 8 film was dead, there were some sophisticated cameras that put this Kodak thing to shame. The trick would be finding a used one that is still in good working condition. Some of them even used cartridges with a sound stripe on the film (no longer available and costly right before they were discontinued). The sound was recorded in real time. I have tons of home movies shot on these things. One of these days I'm going to get around to having them transferred to some digital medium. I would need one of these things like a hole in the head. I have a very decent Eumig that would probably still work if I were interested in this.

I shot all of my crime scenes on Ecktachrome and then processed them myself. I still have the film changing bag and all of the light-tight tanks. Easy to do. Just follow the instructions and monitor the water temps.

I’ve lost film in the mail, and once got someone’s snapshots of Lahaina and the Iao Needle, so prefer E-6 film and process my own. I don’t do much digital.

I liked Ektachrome with my RB 67 lenses, but it was too blue with my Leica, Rodenstock and Zeiss lenses without filtration. Kodachrome was nice with all, but faded quickly in the light and I couldn’t process it myself. I like Fujichrome Provia with the RB, Velvia is as sharp as Kodachrome and I like the color especially with Leica lenses. Agfachrome 64 was horrible, but CT-50 was great, somewhere between Provia and Velvia, and very sharp. I still have 8 rolls of 120 in the freezer.

I stored mine in darkness. In recent years I've been scanning slides from years like 1975, and the slides looked just great.
